How PitchWhip works.

Everything below is the product as it actually behaves. No marketing gloss. If something here doesn’t match what you see, that’s a bug in one of them: hello@pitchwhip.com. Looking for how a particular feature works? The searchable, feature-by-feature manual is the guide.

1. Installation & setup

PitchWhip is a Chrome extension for desktop Chrome. The free extension needs a free account with your work email (3 scripts a day, plus 1 phone number and 1 email reveal; no card needed). Personal addresses (Gmail, Outlook…) need a work email or a paid plan; buying works with any email. Dashboard sign-in with email or Google is optional; a paid plan unlocks its tools, including Find companies and Find investors (UK only) at no extra cost. Upgrading does not unlock research in other countries.

  • Install from the Chrome Web Store, then create your free account with your work email on the sign-up page. No card needed.
  • Tell it who you are. Chrome hides new extensions behind the jigsaw-piece button beside the address bar, so there is no PitchWhip icon in your toolbar yet. Click the jigsaw, right-click PitchWhip → Options → “Profile & identity”, and enter your name and company. Pin it while you are there. Scripts won’t generate until these are set, because every opener says who’s calling. Fields save as you type; there is no Save button.
  • Describe your pitch. Under Your pitch context, write two honest sentences about what you sell and who it helps. For a draft, use the description helper and press Generate pitch context, then review it.
  • Open a person’s profile, not your feed. On a LinkedIn profile or Sales Navigator lead page, click the lime-green PitchWhip tab at the right edge of the screen. It does not show on the feed or in search results.
  • Got a licence? Paste the key from your purchase email into Options → License. The same key logs you into the dashboard. Your pitch profiles follow the licence: they back up to PitchWhip Cloud as you edit, and a fresh install restores them the moment the key activates.

The free account gives you 3 generated scripts a day, resetting at midnight UK time. Want to try the data too? It comes with 1 phone number and 1 email reveal on us, shared across your devices: no card, no key to paste. In the extension open Settings and choose Sign in with email. A lookup is only spent when something is actually found. Beyond those, reveals, the coaching that learns from your calls, prospect discovery and CRM sync need a licence.

2. Using the tool

The panel

PitchWhip reads the profile you are viewing and uses it with sourced company context to build the brief and script. PitchWhip never presses Send on LinkedIn. It presses three of LinkedIn’s own controls: the Add-a-note button inside a Connect dialog you opened, the Message button on a profile, and the same control on a Sales Navigator lead page. It fills the note, message or InMail and leaves it on screen; Connect and Send are always your press. Right person scores how well this person fits your pitch, from evidence; Right now asks whether there’s a real trigger to call about. When there’s no trigger, it says “no compelling trigger”. Review the evidence before using the angle.

Below the verdicts: the opener, the 30 seconds, diagnostic questions, a proof point, the close, likely objections with responses, and what to say if a screener answers. Every prose section has an ✎: rewrite a line and PitchWhip keeps the lesson, so future scripts drift toward your wording.

Contact reveals

  • One credit buys one direct phone number or one work email. A reveal runs our partner’s waterfall and returns the strongest match.
  • A credit is only spent when something is found, and revealing the same person again is free.
  • Your plan includes 50 credits a month, refilling on the 1st (UK time), no rollover. Top-up packs never expire: 20 for $20, 50 for $40, 100 for $50, at $1, 80c and 50c a credit. Monthly credits are always spent first.
  • If a number is dead, unobtainable or reaches the wrong person, or an email hard-bounces, report it from the extension or by email within 30 days of the reveal. A person checks it and the credit goes back on your balance. See the bad-data re-credit in the Terms.

Call mode

When you use your own phone and your account admin turns live transcription on, Call mode can transcribe through Chrome’s own speech recognition without making or saving an audio file. It streams suggested responses as the conversation moves. Thumbs-up a suggestion that worked and it learns your objection handling.

Eligible paid accounts can dial through PitchWhip after setup in the extension, using separately purchased calling minutes. Your account admin accepts the calling notice once in Settings → Calling before the team can call. Only connected time counts, and pack minutes do not expire. To start from the dashboard, use extension 13.5 or later and confirm the call in the extension. After a minute-pack purchase, one PitchWhip number is available per active seat, subject to business and network checks and number availability. PitchWhip is not a replacement phone. It can call emergency services only from a PitchWhip number with a registered emergency address: 999 or 112 from a UK number beginning 01, 02 or 03 (a UK 07 number can’t), and 911 from a US number (not available in California). Calls that show your own number as caller ID can’t reach the emergency services through PitchWhip. When anyone on your account calls 911, your account’s admins get an email at once with who called, the callback number and the registered address.

Recording is optional for calls made through PitchWhip and stays off until your account admin switches it on. Review recordings in the dashboard. The default retention is 90 days.

Prospect discovery

Once a day, “Find me 10 new prospects” in the Who’s-next queue searches the open web (trade press, appointment announcements, team pages) for people who match your pitch. Every result carries a verbatim quote and its source. Finds are kept until you call them, on any machine your licence signs into, with a read-only Found for you view on your dashboard. “Add to queue” pins someone into Who’s next; the ✕ moves them to a bin you can restore from, and future searches bring you different people instead of repeating anyone you already have. Set a geography preference in Options and the search prefers your patch. If the web names nobody new that day, it tells you so rather than padding the list. Discovery never scrapes LinkedIn.

Logging, callbacks and stats

After a call, one tap on the outcome grid logs it. Callbacks get a due badge on every LinkedIn page, and “Next up” offers the next prospect the moment an unreached call is logged. Options → Stats (and the dashboard) show your outcomes and the hours your calls actually connect. Logged an outcome wrong? “Change outcome” corrects the record. It never duplicates it.

Sequences, lists and campaigns

A sequence is a set of follow-up steps for a group of people, built in the dashboard. Email steps send themselves from the rep’s own connected mailbox, or from a campaign subdomain you verify, on the days and between the hours the account sets. LinkedIn and call steps are handed to the rep in the extension with the words written, and are never sent for them. Lists come from a spreadsheet, a paste or the call log, and a do-not-contact list keeps customers and partners out of every sequence. Open tracking is off by default; the switch is under Integrations. Every sequence email carries your business identity line and an unsubscribe link. The whole of it, including pacing and stop-on-reply, is in the guide.

Google Sheets & Calendar (optional)

Connect Google in Options and PitchWhip keeps a CRM spreadsheet in your own Drive and adds booked meetings to your calendar. It uses the narrow drive.file permission, which can only ever see the one spreadsheet it created, never the rest of your Drive.

3. Using it without the extension

Company IT doesn’t allow browser extensions? Contact reveals, sequences, lists and campaigns all work entirely from the dashboard. Log in at pitchwhip.com with an emailed code, Google or your licence key, open Reveals, and use Reveal by URL: paste a LinkedIn profile link, add the person’s name, and choose phone, email or both. It runs the identical lookup to the extension: the same partner, one credit per found result, and revealing the same person again is free. Results land in the same Reveals table, exportable to CSV.

The script, brief and live-coaching features read the LinkedIn page in front of you, so they need the extension. The profile has to be read in your own logged-in session, on a page you have open.

4. Individual vs team

Individual is one licence key for one person. Keys have a device activation limit; if you move machines, remove the old device yourself on the dashboard’s Devices card, no support ticket needed.

Teams use the seat stepper on the pricing page: up to 25 seats, every one at $49, no volume discount to negotiate. Need more than 25? Email us. One subscription, one invoice. You assign seats from the dashboard’s Team section. Monthly reveal credits are granted per seat and pooled across the team (top up with packs). The reveals they buy are billed to the account. The team and its admin can view revealed contacts, the call log and account stats in the dashboard. A reveal row doesn’t record which rep ran it. A rep’s own briefs, scripts, coaching lessons and notes stay on their licence and are never shown to the team.

5. Billing & payments

  • Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record: they take the payment, handle VAT/sales tax at checkout, and email your licence key instantly.
  • $49 per user per month, or $490 per user per year (two months free). Reveal packs: 20 for $20, 50 for $40, 100 for $50, bought from the extension’s Contact reveals card.
  • Update your card, download invoices, or change your plan from the dashboard’s Billing section, which opens your Lemon Squeezy customer portal.

6. Compliance & data protection

Written for the compliance team you’re about to forward this to. Here is how PitchWhip meets UK GDPR and EU GDPR, the evidence rather than the adjective:

  • UK company. PitchWhip Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 17389184, registered office in London.
  • ICO registered. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, reference ZC223705.
  • Public documents. Our Privacy Policy covers UK GDPR, EU GDPR and US state privacy laws including the CCPA. Our Data Processing Agreement (Article 28) applies to every customer automatically and we’ll countersign a copy on request.
  • Sub-processors. Listed in both documents with 30 days’ notice of changes. Where a provider is identified by category for commercial confidentiality, it is named in the sub-processor schedule at contract stage and confirmed in writing on request.
  • Data providers. Our contact-data sources are EU- and US-based, each under a reseller agreement and data-processing terms. Transfers to them rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension where the provider is certified; otherwise on the EU SCCs and the UK IDTA or UK Addendum, which we have signed or requested.
  • Rights of the people in the data. A public notice for prospects explains what we hold and why, and anyone can have their details removed and kept out with one email to hello@pitchwhip.com. No reason needed, honoured without argument.
  • What we never do. We don’t sell personal data, don’t use it for advertising, and don’t train AI models on customer data.
  • Security posture, honestly. We’re a young company and don’t yet hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 and won’t pretend otherwise. What we do have is in Annex 2 of the DPA: encryption in transit, multi-factor and least-privilege access to production, and a 72-hour breach-notification commitment. Calls are recorded only if an account admin switches recording on; our telephony provider holds the recordings and deletes them after 90 days, unless the account admin chooses 1 year, 2 years or to keep them until they are deleted. Send your security questionnaire and it gets the same candour.
  • Outbound-calling rules stay yours. E-marketing and telemarketing laws (the UK’s PECR, Canada’s CASL, the US TSR and their kin) govern the calls and messages you make. PitchWhip never dials a prospect by itself: a call from PitchWhip is always a person pressing Call, and the screening, caller ID and recording rules for it are yours (Terms, section 21). It never presses Send on LinkedIn. The one thing it does send is a sequence email you set up, from your own address or your verified campaign domain, with an unsubscribe link on every one. It gives every person a one-email route to be removed and kept out, but compliance with e-marketing rules belongs to you as the sender.
  • Buying from outside the UK/EU? For a regime other than UK GDPR, EU GDPR and US state privacy laws (Canada’s PIPEDA, for example), send your questionnaire and we’ll answer it against your jurisdiction.
  • Vendor questionnaires. Send them to hello@pitchwhip.com. We complete them promptly, and we’ll take a security or DPIA call with your team if that’s faster.

7. Cancelling

Cancel any time from the dashboard’s Billing section: no email, no phone call, no retention flow.

  • Monthly plans keep full access to the end of the current billing month and are not charged again.
  • Annual plans keep full access to the end of the paid year and simply don’t renew. No pro-rata refunds, except where the law requires one.
  • Afterwards, the free tier keeps working (3 scripts a day on a free account with a work email) and everything stored on your machine stays yours. Unspent pack credits never expire: they can’t be spent without an active licence, but they’re waiting if you come back.
  • If PitchWhip ever stops trading. Your call log, reveals and lists export to CSV from the dashboard at any time without asking us. Everything the extension holds stays on your own machine and in your own Google Sheet, and we will give 30 days’ notice by email before any service is switched off.
  • Want your cloud data deleted too? Email hello@pitchwhip.com. The Privacy Policy covers what we hold and for how long.

8. Getting help

Found a bug? The extension’s options page and your dashboard both have a “Report a bug” button that sends us the context we need. For everything else, hello@pitchwhip.com. A human replies within one working day.
